The 5-string kantele is usually tuned like this:

The 10-stringed kantele is usually tuned like this: 
 
  
 
Rarely however is the kantele tuned so high. The key-note is determined by the 4th string.
The usual custom is to tune the kantele between a -d2, when the key is D major. The key-note is usually c1-e1 (according to the kantele, its size and the thickness of the strings).
